We are seeking a Senior Scrum Master/Agile Coach in support of our federal customer. As a Senior Scrum Master, you will be responsible for the enablement and maturity growth of the organizational agility of multiple Agile teams supporting several enterprise tools Projects.

This position requires onsite presence at the customer location in Arlington, VA one day per week.

Responsibilities

  • Manages multiple Scrum and/or product teams or most-complex teams with limited supervision or oversight.
  • Works with the team by using a servant leadership style and through leading by example.
  • Coordinates Scrum of Scrum meetings and cross-Scrum team collaboration as needed to coordinate delivery of work tied to strategic initiatives/programs/projects.
  • Facilitates effective meetings and Scrum events which include Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, estimating work, Sprint Review / Demo, Sprint Retrospective, and Daily Scrum for one or more agile teams.
  • Collaborates with Product Owner and Solution Architect to understand requests, capabilities, and delivery schedules specific to Scrum team(s) deliverables.
  • Identifies and resolves impediments that are inhibiting the Agile Team from meeting Sprint Goal and/or other commitments.
  • Provides coaching support to junior Scrum Masters and Product Owners.
  • Contributes best practices and thought leadership to Agile Community of Excellence to help advance the broader Agile and Product Mindset practices.
  • Creates an environment conducive to team self-organization and collaboration.
  • Supports, assists, and educates the Product Owner, especially with respect to refining and maintaining the product backlog.
  • Collaborates with the team to ensure the product/feature backlog is organized, clear, and up to date.
  • Manages and keeps artifacts visible through visual management techniques and tools like websites, dashboards, and collaborative applications including but not limited to: burn-down, burn-up, team velocity, task-time estimates, and status.
  • Sets and continually manages expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Identifies and resolves and/or escalates roadblocks, issues, and conflicts within the team in a timely fashion. Shields the team from interruptions.
  • Coaches, mentors, and motivates team members (internal and external) and influences them to take positive action and accountability for the teams work.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree and at least 4 years experience performing as a Scrum Master within DHS (preferred); without a degree 4 additional years of experience are required:

  • Over 8 years experience providing Project Management specifically utilizing Agile Methodologies.
  • Experience working in a Government Information Technology organization preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and writing.
  • Eligibility/Clearance Requirements: Must be able to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship

Desired Qualifications

  • DHS/CISA EOD - 1st priority
  • Any DHS badge + DoD Top Secret - 2nd choice
  • DoD Top Secret + willingness to obtain DHS CISA suitability - 3rd choice (it can take 10 -60 days to obtain CISA suitability work can only begin once suitability is fully adjudicated)

Certification Preference: Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
