• Software Programming to develop new software and the integration of such software with existing software systems. Typically, this will include coding, testing, code reviews, and deployment and collaborating with the broader open-source community to expand and support partners engagement with the development effort. These are typically in Object Oriented languages such as Python to develop enhancements to operating systems like Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
• Development of Architectural documentation including high level software design, software’s main components and how they interact, creating diagrams or architectural blueprints that visually represent the software’s architecture and document design decisions, trade offs and rationales that influence the software architecture.
• Lead teammates and management on approaches to refactoring of code, security implementations, and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with partners, closely related projects, and researchers as a technical resource and subject matter expert.
• Act as subject matter expert within the larger open-source community and provide architectural oversight for those community’s software projects.
• Consult with staff, partners, and hardware providers to develop specifications and performance requirements for a production version of research artifacts.
• Providing level 3 support for the Mass Open Cloud and the software created by the MOC team.
Minimum Requirements
Must have Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or related field.
Must have 3 years of experience in Open Source Software programming involving the following: (1) developing new software utilizing Python; (2) operating systems like Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL); and (3) Working within the structures of an Open Source Community.
