Project Tasks
The resident will be required to work off hours during scheduled cutover events. Please do not submit any candidate who is not willing to be onsite for the duration of this assignment and willing to work off hours for the cutover events. There are 10 cutover events scheduled between now and the end of November. The Dell team will provide more detail about the schedule during the interview call.
Working with the PM
Participate in project planning activities with the assigned Project Manager, documenting the Method of Procedures and Project Task Lists.
Engage with client Host and Application Teams during planning sessions and submit pre- and post-cutover tasks to support changes.
Working with the resources:
Function as an onsite representation of remote resources during SAN Switch and Fiber Cabling installations before during and after migration events at Piscataway and 2metrotech
Port Mapping documentation process required prior to migrations
Troubleshooting Brocade ports, engaging Hosts teams on SAN pathing issues, directing data center staff to evaluate fiber path health
Working on Client Internal processes & with Client teams to:
Submit Change Control for Migration Events and represent Changes to Change approval board
Open tickets for DC access, Hardware deliveries etc.
Escalate issues to client management
Work with Datacenter staff and Host teams Post Migration to stabilize the environment
Requires ability to fully understand and articulate physical data center work required:
Physical oversite/hand on staging and Installation of Brocade X7 Directors,
Unpack and inventory equipment.
Install cards, SFPs, and QSFPs in directors
Rack mount directors
Resource will be required for both locations (Piscataway & 2MetroTech) during Migration Events
Resource will be required to prep for the events, retrieve items from inventory, assist in staging equipment
Project is expected to have a series of cutovers spread out across weeks; draft timeline is shown below overlaying events across week numbers. Blue events are at Piscataway data center while green at the 2MetroTech data center.
First event expected mid July 2023 while last event is expected to be mid November 2023, subject to change per project and client needs
Events 1-4 are considered major. Major events start on Monday and are expected to last 5-8 consecutive days. 5 is the expected duration, 8 in case of technical issues requiring troubleshooting by technical teams.
Events 5-10 are considered minor and expected to last 1-3 days. 1 days is the expected duration, 3 in case of technical issues requiring troubleshooting by technical teams.
First two events are labeled "PreEvent A" and "PreEvent B" are also considered minor and are expected to last 1-3 days.
Technical issues requiring troubleshooting may lengthen an event.
IMPORTANT to note cutover events the resident will be required to work "off hours" to support the events. The estimate start time for the events will be 6PM and below is the estimated duration. The resident will work with the customer and the Dell team to determine their work schedule during these events. The resident will work normal business hours (EST) during non-event weeks.
Typical expected durations after business hours for major events are:
Day 1: 4-6 hours
Day 2: 5-7 hours
Day 3: 1-2 hours
Day 4: 2-5 hours
Day 5: 2-4 hours
Day 6-8 (in case needed): 2-4 hours

Day 1: 3-5 hours
Day 2: 0-3 hours
