Discovery Education is looking for a Senior Specialist, Community Engagement to join our community engagement team. You are responsible for ensuring strategic growth and engagement of the Discovery Educator Network. The Community Engagement Senior Specialist will develop and implement community initiatives, promotions, strategic communications, and events to engage and retain active community members, with the goal of empowering the community to support other educators in their use of Discovery Education resources to bolster student success.

What You Will Do

  • Manage and expand the Discovery Educator Network globally through development of strategic plans to increase active participation, communication, and awareness between users of Discovery Education products and services.
  • Ensure growth and viability of the Discovery Education learning communities through a variety of mechanisms including, development and execution of professional learning opportunities (in-person and virtual), management of community member activation, development of engagement-focused content (blog posts, social media) and strategic planning of promotions and other activities to support learning communities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales and renewal teams to develop and adjust strategic plans to support usage stimulation and account growth, through key established strategic programs and development of new initiatives where needed.
  • Apply knowledge and skills in collaboration with the community engagement team to scale learning community activations in support of increasing engagement in the larger Discovery Education community.
  • Serve as an educational expert to make instructional, assessment, and pedagogical connections between the products, digital tools, and best educational practices, with a deep understanding of all functional and educational aspects of Discovery Education products and services.
  • Assist in the development of written documents and product tools that serve to increase the effectiveness of the product and corresponding professional development.

This role will sit in out Charlotte Headquarters with a hybrid schedule (2-3 days in office).

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, organizational and verbal/written communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage a diverse workload.
  • Understandingof K-12 instructional practices, curriculum standards, and effective professional development strategies preferred.Deep ties to the education community including the ability to navigate the political landscape of public-school systems.
  • Thorough working knowledge of education technology including digital media and emerging web technologies and their application in the educational environment.
  • Clear understanding of industry trends, current events, anything that may impact the business by reading professional publications, researching all available prospect/product resources and participating in professional organizations.
  • Proficiency with Suite of Microsoft Office, CRM/Salesforce preferred, Gainsight,Vidyard, Looker, and Airtableexperience is a plus.
  • Bachelors degree required preferably in marketing, communications, education, or related fields or equivalent work experience.
  • Candidate will have limited travel (up to 20%).
  • Legal right to work in the United States.
