Sigma Defense is looking for an Architectural Systems Engineer who is willing to tackle hard problems with the support of the team and can use these problems as an opportunity to learn and grow. With time, the role will allow for tackling more complex technical issues and taking ownership of different components or areas.

The hired Architectural Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, integrating, optimizing, and maintaining the infrastructure across multiple data centers. Our Engineers frequently collaborate and make efforts with Engineers from various sections within the company to assist in a range of customer environments across multiple data centers. Systems Engineers in this domain has strong technical acumen with a deep knowledge of the fundamentals of VMware ESX and related technologies. Out of several other roles, the standard job responsibilities are as follows:

Requirements

  • Design best practices, standards, policies, and solutions to ensure robustness, uptime and efficiency with infrastructure and solutions used by the organization.
  • Gather requirements and evaluate new products/solutions as necessary in order to meet the Customer's operational goals and in accordance with DoD Regulations and basic security principles.
  • Prepares necessary paperwork and documentation to ensure conformance to standards and procedures.
  • Develop and integrate new tools/capabilities and enhance existing tools/capabilities into an operational environment.
  • Coordinate complex requirements across multiple, parallel datacenter architectures and ensure replication and interoperability between sites for Disaster Recovery and Continuity of Operations situations.
  • Maintain the mandatory baseline of STIG compliance on all responsible technologies within the architecture.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic, adhere to deadlines, and the ability to work both independently and as a team.

Position Requirements

  • Sr. Systems Engineer will proactively identify and implement improvements, automation, monitoring, alerting, and more.
  • Deploy, support and maintain Dev/Test/Production infrastructure and services in virtual, physical environments.
  • Monitor the health and performance of all infrastructure and resolve issues using strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Support a small Datacenter and a physical machine test lab by troubleshooting issues, deploying and configuring new hardware, servers, laptops and desktops (Windows and Linux).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues on Windows and Linux systems for services such as Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy Management, MDT and more.
  • Ensure High Availability, Fault Tolerance, Backup, and Disaster Recovery is in place and functioning properly for all critical infrastructure.
  • Install, configure, and manage VMware virtualization environments (vSphere, SRM)
  • Install, configure, and manage Cisco UCS environments (Central, UCS Manager, Fabric Interconnects, B and C-Series servers)
  • Experience with Cisco virtual and physical network, and security concepts and practices.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with architecting and implementing storage, virtualization, and hyper converged systems along with data protection and recovery strategies
  • 10 + years of experience in an enterprise environment involving VMware maintenance, troubleshooting and performance analysis
  • DOD 8570 IAT Level III (or obtain within 6 months of hire).
  • VMware VCP or VCAP certification in the Data Center Virtualization track (Desired).

Preferred Experience:

  • Ability to design and deploy hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) solutions such as Cisco HyperFlex to support VMware vSphere environments.

Security Clearance

  • Required: Secret with the ability to obtain SCI.

Salary Range: $135,000 - $145,000 annually.
