Crawford Industries, now a part of Spartech, LLC has an opening on day shift for a Shipping/Receiving Clerk to join our team in Crawfordsville, IN.The Crawfordsville operation of the organization specializes in extruding and converting flat plastic sheet. Plastic sheet may have graphics added and then die cut into license plates, the lamp shade used in veterinary clinics, signage, file folders, 3-ring binders, covers for school date books, for example. We reuse our scrap plastic whenever possible to create our environmentally friendly products. Come join our team.
General Summary and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Using the daily ship log to organize and prioritize daily shipping. Prepares shipments per schedule, verifying the correct quantity and the quantity packed meets spec. Utilize logistics company to assist in the control of freight costs as well as best routing.
Key Responsibilities to include:
- Carefully review each sales order comments for specific shipping instructions.
- Utilize logistics company to assist in the control of freight costs and to identify the best freight routings and costs for customers.
- Calculate density to determine freight classifications.
- Complete computerized bills of lading with accurate quantities, classifications, and weights & review for completeness.
- Complete all manifests as needed.
- Responsible for all deliveries into the warehouse.
- Prepare product as necessary for successful shipment.
- Unload freight received and load outgoing shipments via fork truck.
- Verify receipt of correct items and quantities and note any obvious damage.
- Complete receiver information & enter into NAV.
- Accurately report all direct & indirect labor activities.
- Follow all dock related safety protocols as well as other Spartech safety protocols.
Requirements
- High School diploma or experience demonstrating equivalent skills and abilities.
- One year of previous shipping clerical experience preferred, but not required.
- Basic math skills and must receive a passing score on Inventory Aptitude Test.
- Previous experience on sit down and stand-up forklift a plus.
- Able to read and use a tape measure and micrometer.
- Frequently lift up to 60 pounds
- Able to use a hand truck to move materials and move heavier loads with forklift.
- Able to stand for extended periods of time.
This position reports to the Buyer.
