The Shipping Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring timely and accurate delivery of goods to customers. The Shipping Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating shipping activities, supervising the shipping team and maintaining efficient processes to meet customer requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The supervisor helps to coordinate the Shipping staff and workload to help ensure all work is being completed in a timely manner.
  • Read shipping notices, invoices, orders, and other documents to determine priorities and shipping methods that are needed to meet SLA.
  • Reconcile discrepancies in orders.
  • Improve team productivity - review metrics, do regularly scheduled observations, scheduling and distribution of work assignments
  • Train Shipping department staff.
  • Write up and discipline staff when necessary.
  • Oversee staff attendance.
  • Helps maintain shipping staffs job results by coaching and counseling.
  • Conduct monthly EFR performance reviews for direct reports and provide continual feedback on both positive and negative performance.
  • Monitor the UPH and SLA expectations for the team.
  • Ensure associate safety tools, equipment, behavior on the floor, etc.
  • Maintain the physical condition of the department to reflect cleanliness, efficiency, and organization.
  • Compliance with established company policies and procedures.
  • Communicate and escalate problems; offer solutions.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a 3PL environment or logistics industry.
  • Two to five years of related warehouse experience is desirable.
  • Previous experience as a team leader or supervisor is preferred.
  • Knowledge of shipping regulations, laws, and procedures (e.g., OSHA, Hazmat).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate including reading, writing and speaking; some fluency in English is required.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions.
  • Excellent leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Regularly lift and/or move objects 10-50 lbs; occasionally, with team support, lift and/or move objects greater than 30 lb.s
  • Ability to work overtime as business needs dictate.
