Our partner is seeking a Strategic Procurement Manager to join their dynamic and growing team in Houston, TX. This position will manage the purchasing process for major capital equipment and construction services for the portfolio of renewable energy projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and manage competitive bid processes for major equipment (solar) and construction services for utility-scale renewable energy.
  • Manage relationships with vendors including but not limited to identifying new market entrants, supplier qualification, technical proposal review, and commercial and contractual negotiations.
  • Manage the development of contracting strategies, strategic category planning, processes, and procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders from engineering, construction, finance, legal, and development to drive the evaluation of supplier proposals.
  • Support building tools to benchmark and model equipment and construction costs based on multiple performance attributes.
  • Track the global and U.S. renewable energy markets, monitor supplier technological and commercial trends in the industry, and develop and own forward cost curves.
  • Maintain industry risk assessments on supply chain, ESG (environment, social, governance) and regulatory risk.
  • Participate in the engineering, design, and construction review process for projects.
  • Support projects through the entire construction life-cycle and ensuring hand over of a high quality project to the operations and maintenance team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical discipline is strongly preferred. CIPS or other related professional certifications are preferred.
  • 1-3 years of progressively responsible experience in technical, engineering, construction management, or related heavy industry procurement.
  • Ability to perform technical and contract analysis, basic economic analysis, review and synthesize technical designs, reports, documentation, and data from vendors, and communicate results to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work in a project-type environment with occasional tight deadlines and concurrent deliverables, and to manage and collaborate with key suppliers to support value creation for the company.
  • Experience in utility-scale energy projects, with demonstrated support throughout the project lifecycle, is preferred, including experience in energy storage solutions and high/medium voltage electrical equipment.
  • Proven skills in procurement, costing and estimation, negotiation, basic accounting, contract analysis, and e-procurement.
