Job Opportunity:



Under the direct supervision of the AOD Supervisor, the certified Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor II will perform direct resident services as assigned by the AOD Supervisor. The SUD Counselor II will complete special projects, assist in the development of SUD Treatment curriculum. Facilitates both psycho-educational and clinical groups. The SUD Counselor II will assist in new staff orientation. The SUD Counselor II will maintain a direct case load of SUD clients, perform counseling and case management, understands DSM diagnoses, and provides clients with referrals with other mental health agencies.

 



About the Facility:



The Renaissance Treatment Center is a 120-bed multi-dimensional residential treatment program that serves adults. Designed to address the complex issues facing individuals with substance abuse addictions, the program offers a continuum of care with 3 service options: detoxification, short-term residential recovery and long-term residential recovery. Each year, the program serves more than 2,300 adults in San Diego County. The Center is in National City, CA.

 



Key Responsibilities:




  • Follows all safety Policies and Procedures and ensure that residents and staff are safe.

  • Follows all disaster preparedness procedures as outlined in program manual.

  • Performs daily one-on-one intervention and counseling with clients.

  • Performs daily documentation in client files, documenting progress, provided services, treatment planning, client program scheduling, and accurate completion of all DMC required case management documentation.

  • Maintains and follows documented process (addendum) of Long-Term Client process in caseload, along with Withdrawal management caseload.

  • Maintains a good rapport, respect, and communication with law enforcement and court officials, agency visitors, and community social service agencies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications:




  • Must possess current California Association of DUI Treatment Programs (CADTP), Level 4 or Level 5 or has current second level certification with California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAPP).

  • Must have a Master's in Mental Health Counseling, Mental Health Services of Psychology.

  • Must have at least 3 years of paid work experience in direct client SUD services, with clients who have co-occurring disorders.

  • Must be able to maintain current certification, and continually acquire CEU's as per CCAPP guidelines.

  • Must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate in English.

  • Has working knowledge of SUD treatment modalities.

  • Conveys respect, concern, and understanding to clients, VOA employees, and the public.

  • Must be proficient in data entry and can utilize Windows and Microsoft Office products, and Electronic Health Records Management.

  • Must have a valid driver's license.
