POSITION SUMMARY

The Supply Chain Buyer/Planner position is a key role within our Supply chain operation. This role will interact with cross functional teams and be a liaison for several projects and processes. Key goals for this position will be driving costs out on their respective parts, improving delivery from suppliers, utilizing the system to keep inventory in line with company objectives, and reducing stock outs.

Outside of KPIs the Buyer/planner will be assigned projects which will have varying scopes of complexity. As a Supply chain representative this role may be asked to report out to leadership and solve complex problems with minimal guidance. The Supply Chain Buyer will also need to become an expert user of our ERP system. All projects and processes need to be developed with the system in mind.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

The specific minimum competencies needed to perform the essential duties of the job include knowledge, skills, abilities, level of education, and experience necessary for successful performance. These competencies are generally demonstrated through specific service, education, or training.

Knowledge:

  • Experience with sourcing, procuring and/or planning purchased or manufactured materials.
  • Sourcing experience needs to include searching for suppliers and working through approval processes.
  • International purchasing experience from Asia and Europe preferred.
  • Familiar with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) within an ERP system.
  • Passionate about making improvements and driving change.
  • Moderate negotiation skills and experience, with examples of cost reduction.
  • Exposure to total cost analysis concepts including how to calculate total cost.
  • Familiar with scheduling, capacity planning, and/or shop floor control.
  • Strong experience in forecasting techniques as well as knowledge about how to forecast challenging items.
  • Quality system knowledge including the quality manual, quality policy, and applicable procedures and work instructions.
  • Displays excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient experience with Excel and PowerPoint for information sharing purposes.
  • Experience with Freight and giving guidance to vendors on freight options.
  • Experience holding suppliers accountable to comply with AirLife quality standards, processes and policies.
  • Experience with quality teams and working cross functionally to achieve common goals.
  • Reading and understanding BOMS as well as drawings.

Level of Experience:

  • 2+years of Purchasing/Buying experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous Product Planning experience highly preferred.
  • Experience with resins, corrugated, adhesive, and finished good commodities preferred.
  • Additional project certifications or experience preferred.

Level of Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in business, Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Travel:

  • Less than 10%

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The core tasks, duties, and responsibilities that must be performed on the job.

  • Places purchase order and/or releases manufacturing orders in a timely manner per the MRP planning system.
  • Ensures that purchase orders are delivered on time to support production schedules.
  • Involved with selecting, evaluating, and developing new sources of supply.
  • Quote existing and potential new suppliers, looking for cost reduction opportunities.
  • Schedules and/or follows-up to ensure that manufacturing orders are completed on time to support customer orders.
  • Responsible for materials, both purchased and/or manufactured, that represent a low to moderate financial impact on the business.
  • Operates with moderate level of independence in completing the responsibilities of the position while taking direction from the department Director.
  • Optimizes inventory levels to meet inventory goals while achieving finished goods service levels to customers.
  • Insures that purchasing and related quality documents always comply with ISO.
  • Depending on the level of experience, this position may be involved with Engineering Change Control
  • Follows environmental and safety regulations and acts in compliance with US laws.
  • Complies with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics.
  • Contribute to projects associated with Supply Chain and other functions.
  • Other tasks as assigned by Director of Supply Chain Management.
  • Submit analysis information on a wide.
