The Electrical Engineer researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, and systems.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Design electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
  • Develop controls, instruments, and systems for new commercial, domestic, and industrial uses.
  • Design and direct engineering personnel in fabrication of control apparatus and equipment, and determine methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products.
  • Direct activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
  • Direct and coordinate the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.
  • Review contracted designs and provide suggestions for design improvement.
  • Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Provide sustaining engineering support to operations, technical support, application development, and sales and marketing for design related issues with existing products.
  • Additional responsibilities and authorities include schematic capture, electrical component selection, layout supervision, coordinating product regulatory certification, and product release documentation.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers.
  • Support and participate in the organizations continual improvement program to conform to ISO 9001 and understand the implications of not complying with the quality management system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.

EXPERIENCE

  • Two or more years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in a closely related field.
  • Proven experience with lab test equipment (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes) and the development of test fixtures and processes for newly designed systems.
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment a plus.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong electrical design and debugging skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of I/O (PCI) Bus structures and their dependencies
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Word is required for data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong interest in analog circuit design and analysis. Must enjoy handson type electronic circuit work.
  • Knowledge of the design and analysis of fundamental switching regulator and converter topologies, including flybacks, buck, and boost.
  • Must be a good communicator, enjoy a fastpaced environment, and have a strong interest in analog circuit design and analysis. Must enjoy handson type electronic circuit work.
  • Should have a solid academic foundation in the fundamentals of analog circuit design and analysis.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with situations where limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to formulate and document a high level plan with input from many functional groups.
  • Ability to communicate ideas persuasively, gain support and commitment from others, inspire others to take action, and lead by example.
  • Ability to organize and assign work to best use the skills, knowledge, and experience of employees.
  • Ability to maintain positive interactions with staff and management.
  • Ability to work under pressure of schedules.
