The Quality Inspector is responsible for and has authority for ensuring the quality of materials used in products, the quality of workmanship and compliance with specifications and customer requirements.

Specific responsibilities and Authorities may include:

  • Ensure that the Quality Management System is carried out to achieve planned results.
  • Ensure the quality of finished goods when appropriate.
    • Input QA/QC information into Web QMS.
  • Inspect incoming raw materials.
  • Conduct dimensional inspection based on the purchase order or the appropriate drawings.
  • Prepare identification stencils and marking.
  • Take test samples to appropriated laboratories.
  • Shop inspections of the production and the packaging processes.
  • Monitor and record QC inspection reports.
  • Conduct and document final inspections.
  • Provide support for shipping.
  • Answer technical questions, contacting suppliers when needed.
  • Assisting the QA Level 1 with SIT/Hubers Calibration program, ensuring that all equipment which requires calibration is entered into Web QMS and is up-to-date.
  • File quality-related paperwork, such as dimensional reports, as per ISO procedures,
  • Inspecting finished products being shipped are properly built to the required specifications.
  • Interface with Management, Operations and Purchasing on discrepant materials.
  • Move to other areas as needed (production, fill-in work, etc.) when their specific area is not available.
  • Support and participate in the organizations continual improvement program to conform to ISO 9001 and understand the implications of not complying with the quality management system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  • Associates degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Good driving record.
  • Valid Class D License a plus.
  • Forklift Truck License a plus.
  • Experience may be accepted in lieu of education.

EXPERIENCE

  • Two (2) years of relevant experience.
  • Education may be accepted in lieu of experience.
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Knowledge of safe operating procedures.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of inventory procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to read and follow engineering drawings, Bills of Material, and technical specifications, a plus.
  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), a plus.
