The Technical Coordinator is responsible and has authority for performing accurate and efficient complex hydraulic design determinations and researching alternative suppliers of pumps, valves, motors, fittings, and other components defined by system performance and design specifications and approved by the Project Engineer or when required by the client. The Technical Coordinator serves as a liaison between engineering, quality, and production and reports directly to the Vice President.

Specific responsibilities and authorities may include:

  • Identify components by part number, manufacturer, and description, including material, size, and performance characteristics.
  • Price components and identify tradeoffs in associated manufacturer and part numbers or offer alternatives to the functionality desired.
  • Assists engineering when requested with completing purchase requisitions (purchasing authority is per QMS PRO-007-Purchasin).
  • Perform trouble shooting and preventive maintenance on equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and training to less senior maintenance mechanics.
  • Inspect works in process for conformance to customer and regulatory requirements, QMS, and schedule.
  • Acts in support of facility and facility equipment upgrades related to productivity and job throughput.
  • Support and participate in the organizations continual improvement program to conform to ISO 9001 and understand the implications of not complying with the quality management system.
  • Provide support for Engineering, Production & Quality department related to projects in process.
  • When required be available to support offsite field service requirements for SIT built equipment.
  • Document & communicate between shop and Engineering incorrect components, component overages, schematic and GA redlines
  • Assist Engineering Managers in driving BOM, schematic and GA updates with Engineers
  • Create Purchase Requisitions for missing or miscellaneous items needed for jobs in process or up coming
  • Assist Engineering and shop with specifying and procuring items needed prior to jobs moving in to test
  • Involved in design reviews with Engineering
  • Involved in testing and potential commissioning of units
  • Assist Electrical Department as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION

  • College level technical (Engineering Based) degree preferred.
  • Associates Degree a benefit.
  • Fluid Power Technician Certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • One (1) to Three (3) years of experience in a related field.
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment a plus.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Self-motivated with excellent communication, teamwork, and customer interfacing skills.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with situations where limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to formulate and document a high-level plan with input
  • from many functional groups.
  • Ability to communicate ideas persuasively, gain support and commitment from others, inspire others to take action, and lead by example.
