DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The primary responsibility of this position is to collect and record survey data using a survey controller and/or field notes. This involves performing various mathematical computations such as math, trigonometry, algebra, and geometry. Additionally, the role requires operating a range of equipment, including total stations, levels, digital levels, data collectors, survey controllers, and GNSS receivers. As part of a survey team, you will also act as a lead worker, providing guidance and support to other team members. You will assist the Survey Technician Supervisor in reviewing important documents such as construction plans, deeds, tax maps, subdivision and land development plans, and property plats. In the absence of the survey technician supervisor, you will assume the role and responsibilities of the supervisor. Another crucial aspect of this role is the ability to accurately locate physical features using prism technology. This is essential for the development of Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) topographic and contour plans. The work performed by the individual is closely reviewed by the survey technician supervisor to ensure completeness and accuracy. In order to carry out fieldwork, you will operate department vehicles to transport the survey crew and equipment to the designated work site. This position will also be responsible for setting stakes, rebar, and benchmark disks as required. Additionally, you will collaborate with the survey technician supervisor in setting up traffic control measures to ensure the safety of the survey team and other individuals in the vicinity.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. Telework would be on an Ad Hoc basis. To be discussed further during interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Dunmore.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of experience as an Engineering Technician; or
  • Three years of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments; or
  • One year of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments, and an associate's degree in surveying, drafting, design, civil or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.

Condition of Employment:
  • This position requires possession of a valid PA Class C non-commercial driver's license.
