Responsibilities
- Knowledge of Emergency Medical Procedures
- Ability to work well with others including your team, other city employees, and the public
- Ability to dispatch EMS units
- Ability to help citizens provide emergency care over the phone
- Ability to contact outside agencies to work in coordination during an emergency
- Ability to evaluate incoming calls to determine their nature and priority
- Ability to perceive the full-color range
- Basic computer knowledge
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Communications, Business or relevant experience
- 2+ years of experience in emergency services dispatching in a 9-1-1 center or similar environment
- Strong ability to resolve conflict and de-escalate tense situations
- Ability to comfortably sit for long periods
- Excellent attention to details
- Strong interpersonal skills
