Position Description:
Be a part of the team accepting the exciting challenge to return mankind back to the Moon and beyond. The ESSCA contract provides engineering, scientific, and technical support to NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) in Huntsville, AL. Our Thermal Analysis and Control team is a high performing group executing challenging tasks for thermal and fluids design, analysis, and test support of the Space Launch System (SLS), Human Lander System (HLS), Deep Space Habitation and Mars Ascent Vehicle (MAV).
Working independently and in an integrated, collaborative team, your responsibilities would include:
• Thermal engineering support to the DDT&E (design, development, test and evaluation) and sustaining engineering of spacecraft, payloads, satellites, vehicles, and technology development projects.
• Problem resolutions for test activities, launch support, and post-launch data correlation.
• Test planning, execution, problem resolution, and documentation of thermal vacuum test activities.
• Communicating effectively with customer, team and management.
• Effectively planning, prioritizing and managing work to achieve results.


Qualifications:
Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field is required. Degree from an ABET accredited university is preferred. Typically, the educational requirement is a BS with 0 - 5 years of experience.
Required skills and experience:
• Thermal/structural and thermal protection system analyses experience.
• Technical writing and presentation capabilities.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
Highly desired skills and experience:
• Experience with Thermal Desktop, AutoCAD, and/or ANSYS.
• Experience with SINDA.
• Experience with thermal vacuum testing including planning, executing, and documenting of test.
• Experience with heat & mass transfer and thermodynamics analysis.
• Prior experience with NASA or its contractors.
• Familiar with NASA or DoD standards and specifications.

Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
