JOB DESCRIPTION:

Thermal Processing Manager

Location: Vineland, NJ

Position Summary

Responsible for managing the entire Thermal Processing area. Ensures two food canning facilities are in compliance with all USDA & FDA regulations. Manages all new product development and improvements and ensures are products are safe.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manages all thermal processing activities for the company


• Manages new product development along with R&D


• Manages all heat penetration work on new products and on process deviations


• Works with the plants to reduce process deviations


• Files SIDS on all FDA products


• Reviews and approves all heat penetration requests prior to submitting to an outside process authority


• Keeps abreast on all new regulations in the field of canning


• Point person on all technical information related to FDA/USDA audits

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

• Minimum requirement of B.S. degree in Food Science or related field


• At least 5 years of experience in canning/thermal processing, with direct hands on experience with heat penetration and heat distribution studies.


• Ability to evaluate the data from heat penetration and distribution studies in order to make recommendations for deviations and process filings


• Six Sigma Green Belt preferred


• FDA Better Process School


• PCQI Certified preferred
