2nd Shift M-F   3:30p - 11:30p



Summary



Inspects and tests product for conformance to established tolerances on both established product specifications and sample/development products.  Inspection and measurement of parts to validate new molds, tooling and stamping dies for conformance.



 



Essential Duties and Responsibilities




  • Ability to measure angular dimensions, radii, contours, clearances, and other specifications.

  • Ability to use common measurement equipment (measure microscope, calipers, micrometers, dial depth gauges) to accurately measure and record measurement results.

  • Inspects, adjusts, and verifies accuracy of gauges and measuring instruments for conformance to specifications.

  • Recommends changes or modifications.

  • Calibrates gauges and documents results.

  • Uses microscope to inspect changeover parts received from the Molding and Stamping Depts. 

  • Performs first piece production run.

  • Writes reports regarding inspection and testing results.

Education and/or Experience




  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year of related experience and/or training.  Candidate should be able to read and interpret product specification drawings (blueprints).



 Language Skills




  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.



Mathematical Skills




  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to calculate figures using decimals.



Reasoning Ability




  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.



Other Skills and Abilities




  • Ability to use quality measuring instruments such as microscopes, micrometers, verniers, dial indicators, pin gauges, and gauge blocks.  Understanding of common computer applications (including Excel, Word and Outlook) and familiarity with scanning and distributing reports.



Physical Demands




  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle components and use quality measuring devices. The employee is frequently required to walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop to perform incoming inspection. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision for working with components.



Work Environment




  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Safety glasses, hairnets and hearing protection are required while on plant floor.
