Role: Trade Surveillance Business Analyst

Location: NYC, NY (Hybrid)

Duration: 12+ Months

Note: Candidate must have AML and Fraud Detection

Job Description:

Sr. 10+ Years of Total Exp. as BA with Financial / Capital market domain.

The ideal candidate should have the experiences and skills listed below but in addition should be a self-driven, dedicated individual who works well in a team and thinks and acts strategically. In addition, the candidate should respond well to change and quickly pick up new concepts in an ever-moving regulatory landscape. When faced with a problem, the candidate should be able to ask questions and leverage the skill set of those around him/her.

Program Description

The Trade Surveillance group is responsible for the prevention and investigation of abusive, manipulative or illegal trading practices in the securities markets that are either customer or firm initiated. This group identifies patterns of trading behavior across multiple asset classes that may be an indication of market manipulation before these can compromise the firm's reputation.

Responsibilities

Perform feasibility analysis, scope projects, prioritize deliverables, recommend alternative solutions and project strategies to come with the most robust and commercial solutions.

Enable clients with the right technology capabilities

Act as SME to business working with them on system and data questions.

Work independently and collaboratively, work with team spirit

Partner with the business to help translate or fine tune high-level business requirements into detailed functional, testable specifications (using BDD frameworks).

Understand and articulate the technology vision and strategy, ensure that technology solution is successfully aligned with the business goals and priorities

Candidate is willing to learn technology and troubleshoot issues

Review and manage backlog and in-progress items to ensure the latest work status is captured and updated as appropriate

Work closely with Product Owners, other scrum masters, business analyst and QA to progress along squad agenda

Takes ownership to drive through resolutions of issues or blockers, coordinate directly with other development/product teams on inter-dependencies or through scrum-of-scrum ceremony

Providing guidance and assistance on the development of senior management reporting.

Maintain team metrics and report project statuses (e.g., velocity/burn down charts, financial status, issues/risks, etc.) on a regular basis to Product Owner, and to senior stakeholders.

Plan and conduct Agile meetings/ceremonies e.g., daily stand up, product demos, retrospectives etc.

Promote Agile culture, values, behaviors, and principles across business, development, and testing organization

Experience Requirement

Relevant and substantial work experience with business requirements definition and management (end to end), structured analysis, process design, and use case documentation

Experience in Agile project management software/tools (JIRA preferred)

IT Project Management and SDLC knowledge/experience

Hands on experience to develop full-scale project plans and associated communication documents, including identifying and managing project dependencies and critical path, execution, and prioritization

Experience estimating resources and participants needed to achieve project goals

Previous experience in Capital markets compliance. Trade Surveillance / Control room Surveillance, Employee investing and activities compliance preferred

At least 5 years of experience in technology area

Skills:

Strong SQL and Data Analysis knowledge is a must

Ability to proactively manage change in project scope, identify potential issues, and devise contingency

Excellent relationship management, communication, teamwork, and influence skills; ability to operate at senior levels in both written and verbal communications.

Can effectively facilitate meetings, demonstrate brainstorming / consensus building skills, and interact with executive level.

Proficient with MS Office applications: Excel, MS Project, Visio, Word, and PowerPoint (or other tools)

Knowledge of DevOps is a plus.

Knowledge of Java, Scala or Python is a plus.

Preferred if the candidate knows Linux (or other) commands to analyze logs and troubleshoot issues
