This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Part-Time Training and Internal Communications Specialist who will be all-in on our mission and who will coordinate and facilitate training sessions and employee engagement events, including venue and food arrangements and preparation, facilitating training or scheduling trainers and/or presenters, and coordinating with outside vendors/speakers. This position also assists with internal communications as needed, to include preparing organization-wide and group-specific emails and other internal communication pieces.

EDUCATION

  • Required: Bachelors Degree in Communications, Marketing, Education, or Instructional Design

EXPERIENCE

  • Required:
    • Two or more years of experience scheduling and coordinating events.
    • Two or more years of experience facilitating training workshops (virtually or in-person)
  • Preferred:
    • Two or more years of experience with scheduling and registration software.
    • Two or more years of experience with email marketing software (MailChimp, Constant Contact, or similar).
    • Two or more years of experience designing and delivering internal communications.

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred: Current MBTI, DiSC, CliftonStrengths, EQ-i 2.0 or Fierce Conversations

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Training Facilitation

  • Facilitate in-person or virtual training.
  • Prepare A/V equipment and make sure rooms are set up properly.
  • Coordinate department-level and campus-wide employee engagement events
  • Coordinate all necessary arrangements for training sessions.
  • Create classes and registration in the Learning Management System.
  • Communicate and advertise upcoming trainings and classes in a timely manner.
  • Work with the Learning Experience Designer to prepare evaluations for classes and trainings.
  • Track training participants and collect data on all workshops.
  • Prepare college-wide email communication pieces that are professional and visually appealing and maintain our internal branding standard.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of the monthly blog postings.
  • Assist with the upkeep of CMS to include adding and modifying pages and information for the HR and Training site pages.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of webinar software (Zoom, MS Teams, Google Meet, etc.).
  • Knowledge of screen capture software for training development (Snagit, Camtasia, or similar).
  • A high level of energy and creativity
  • Strong public speaking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and think critically on your feet.

Salary: Amarillo College - Salary Schedules((link removed), Pay grade 10 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.

Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.

Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and various other educational applications. Work may also be performed outside of the office and with little to no supervision.
