• Assigns patients to available beds to avoid delays in patient arrival to units.
• Communicates with the physicians and nursing units, to ensure appropriate placement of patients in a timely manner.
• Promotes optimum utilization of hospital beds; communicates with staff regarding bed availability and current census.
• Confirms beds are assigned based on level of care.
• Address any conflicts or issues arising from dissatisfaction with bed assignments.
• Participates in interdisciplinary rounds and conducts daily walking rounds to assess and reassess areas of gridlock.
• Maintains communication with admitting office frequently each day regarding patient movement within the facility and within the system.
• Utilizes a triage technique when patient placement and bed demands are high.

• A minimum of three (3) years experience in a clinical environment, preferably intensive care/emergency department nursing.
• Previous throughput experience preferred. Knowledge and Skills:
• Demonstrated ability to direct and triage in a highly fluid dynamic operational environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and assess and triage clinical critical patient needs.
• Excellent prioritization and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to implement, support and effectively monitor change required.
