Position can be hybrid within close proximity to one of our offices in the US.

SUMMARY & REPORTING LINES

The Compliance Controller reports hierarchically and functionally to the Trade Compliance Manager. This position will support the Trade Compliance Manager to ensure operations' compliance with US trade regulations by maintaining accurate records, auditing related branch activities, and assisting branches with compliance queries. Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following below related activities. Very close teamwork is expected with all members of the Compliance team, Corporate Operations department, and all members of the regions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESAES
  • Monitor fatal errors daily
  • Distribute US Census reports and monitor Compliance Alerts and Resubmission Required Status
  • Coordinate branch replies to US Census verification requests
  • Work with the Trade Compliance Manager and Training team to develop and present training to address critical areas
  • Review and upload FPPI Written Authorizations

CUSTOMS

  • Review and upload Powers of Attorney
  • Monitor Statement payment
  • Monitor DIS Requests
  • Monitor Census warnings
  • Work with the Trade Compliance Manager, Corporate Broker and Training team to develop and present training to address critical areas

DENIED PARTIES SCREENING

  • Respond to requests for authorization
  • Monitor matched entities
  • Monitor US sanction updates
  • Coordinate requests for approval from HQ Compliance for shipments to/from critical countries

FMC

  • Maintain NRAs
  • Monitor sea freight shipments for TLI & NRA compliance; issue penalties for failures

TSA

  • Maintain authorized representative records in IACMS; audit branch use of authorized representatives
  • Issue monthly TSA training & STA report, assign monthly training, send reminders twice monthly
  • Audit known shipper status in TMS; issue weekly KSMS report
  • Update CW1 KSMS status upon receipt of TSA Update, remove duplicates from KSMS
  • Submit KSMS appeals

Corporate Operations

  • Assist other corporate operations teams with general support of operations, as needed


Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed herein are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Proficiency in professional communications, both verbal and written. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret government regulations, general business periodicals, professional journals, or technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of work experience within the industry
  • Knowledge of CargoWise One a plus
  • Strong organizational skills, and understanding of industry operations and regulations.
  • Command of the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Proficient command of the English language

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
