Job Title - Packaging Engineer
Location - Phoenix, Arizona//Onsite
Primary Purpose:
Work as team leader in the development and implementation of packaging equipment.
Responsibilities
Specialty in secondary packaging equipment for bundling, case packing, shrink wrapping and palletizing.
Oversee and manage complete secondary packaging equipment development and installation.
Troubleshoot new and existing problems in equipment design, and provide creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions.
Analyze engineering drawings and specifications of product to determine physical characteristics of item, special handling, environmental and safety requirements, and sizes/types of packaging materials.
Establish standards and guidelines for supplier evaluation. Evaluate and select packaging suppliers/vendors; periodically conduct vendor reviews.
Specify and recommend efficiency tools and test methods to develop and validate packaging designs.
Lead the development of each project including defining of scope, funding, and execution.
Lead the identification, contracting and coordination of engineering support services as required.
Ensure plant customer alignment.
Ensure plant change management systems are followed.
Communicate plant requirements and monitors all contractors ensuring plant procedures are followed.
Coordinates and schedules installation activities with plant operations.
Assist in the development and execution of IQ/OQ documents. Performs FAT's/SAT's as required.
Work with the manufacturing department to ensure that equipment designs are optimized for allotted space, as well as meets all productions and safety requirements.
Coordinate start up activities with vendors, contractors and plant start up teams.
Develop and implement comprehensive test plans to ensure that equipment exceeds specifications.
Ability to envision machine and process modifications.
Vendor and punch list management
Actively maintain a continuous improvement mindset, suggesting and driving improvements related to efficiency, production, automation and/or equipment design, and downtime elimination.
Education, Experience, Qualities and Skills Required:
Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering, or significant machine design experience.
8 12 years' experience required, including experience with machine detailed design using AutoCAD, or SolidWorks.
Lean Six Sigma Experience desirable.
Strong time management, and communications skills

Participate in cross functional project teams, coordinate project activities to ensure project goals and objectives are successful.
Responsible for communication with stakeholders and project sponsor.
