The VP of Communications leads the global communications team and is responsible for driving all strategies for External, Internal Corporate, Executive, Crisis, Media, and Investor Relations. Reporting to our Chief Marketing Officer, this role will set a global strategy to amplify Ouras narrative with influential outlets and events, and be inspired by the opportunity to help craft a global brand to become widely recognized and deeply loved.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for mission-based products that have a positive impact on the world. They will have experience working for a brand that is a disruptor that is scaling globally in the hardware and software space. Ouras story is told across technology, wellness, business, medical and fashion media to name a few. We are an omnichannel brand sold directly to consumers, retail, business to business, and through key partners globally.

This is a remote USA role.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Communication Leadership:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive global communication strategies aligned with Ouras overarching brand, business and product goals
  • Lead a team of communication professionals, fostering collaboration, innovation, and growth within the department.
  • Develop cross-functional relationships with our leaders across several teamsproduct, engineering, finance, legal, marketing, member experience, and peopleto ensure were delivering consistent messages internally and externally.

Product Launch

  • Lead Comms strategy, plan and execution of software and hardware launches across the organization.
  • Drive a global editorial calendar and cadence of stories, thought leadership, and news that aligns with key marketing initiatives and business objectives.

Corporate Communications

  • Work closely with senior executives to shape and communicate the company's narrative to external stakeholders, investors, and the media.
  • Drive key speaking opportunities for executive spokespeople and/or corporate exposure; manage logistics and develop prep and event materials.
  • Oversee awards program and applicable conference submissions for Oura.

Media Relations:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with national and international media outlets, journalists, and influencers.
  • Oversee media outreach efforts, press releases, and media events to secure positive coverage and manage crisis communication effectively.

Internal Communication:

  • Develop and implement internal communication strategies to engage and inform employees about company initiatives, values, and updates.
  • Lead company global all hands and employee communications.
  • Ensure employees are aligned with the company's vision, mission, and strategic direction.

Executive Communication:

  • Provide strategic counsel and support to the executive leadership team for public speaking engagements, interviews, and presentations.
  • Develop key messages and talking points for executives to convey the Oura vision and initiatives.

Crisis and Reputation Management:

  • Develop crisis communication plans and protocols to effectively manage and mitigate any potential reputational risks.
  • Act as a spokesperson during critical incidents and manage communication to protect the brand's image.

Global Communications

  • Lead communications strategy and execution for global market launches.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 13 years of experience in strategic communications, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience working in a high-profile, global brand environment, preferably within the disruptive technology, athletic or fitness brand.
  • Trusted relationships with key consumer tech, health, and lifestyle press, plus analysts and influencers in Ouras industry (to uncover unique stories to advance Ouras narrative)
  • Strong understanding of industry trends, media landscape, and digital communication strategies.
  • Experience working with C-suite executives and providing strategic communication counsel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated crisis communication and issues management expertise.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Salary for this role:

  • $250,000-$300,000 regardless of US location
