New Castle Veterinary Hospital, a reputable and well-established veterinary practice in Chappaqua, NY, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Part-Time or Full-Time Veterinary Technician to join our compassionate team. As a LVT, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our animal patients and support to our veterinary staff.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist veterinarians in various procedures and surgeries, including patient preparation, monitoring anesthesia, and providing post-operative care.

2. Perform laboratory tests, such as bloodwork, urinalysis, and fecal examinations, and accurately record and interpret results.

3. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments under the supervision of veterinarians.

4. Handle and restrain animals during dental examinations and procedures while ensuring their comfort and safety.

5. Take diagnostic radiographs.

6. Maintain accurate and detailed records for all patients.

7. Educate clients on proper dental care for their pets, including at-home dental hygiene routines, dental diets, and dental product recommendations.

8. Assist with routine grooming, nail trims, and dental cleanings.

9. Clean and sterilize dental instruments, equipment, and examination rooms.

10. Collaborate with the veterinary team to maintain a clean and organized hospital environment.

Requirements

1. High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a veterinary technician program and current LVT licensure in New York State strongly preferred.

2. Previous experience working as a veterinary technician.

3. Strong knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, procedures, and animal care.

4. Proficiency in performing laboratory tests and interpreting results.

5. Excellent animal handling and restraint skills, with a focus on patient comfort and safety.

6. Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

7. Exceptional communication and customer service skills to effectively interact with clients and the veterinary team.

8. Familiarity with veterinary software and ability to learn new technologies quickly.

9. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive starting salary, commensurate with experience
    • $20 - $26 per hour depending on experience
    • $24 - $30 per hour for LVTs
