FEFA LLC is currently seeking a Veterinary Technical Supervisor for an animal research facility in Aberdeen, MD(link removed) Employees are expected to be familiar with the day-to-day activities, workflow, personnel, and daily schedules within their assigned facilities. FEFA expects each of our employees to be forward-thinking and to create and assist in quality contract performance. The Veterinary Technical Supervisor will assist management in efficient contract operations and maintain an effective, positive, and professional relationship with both FEFA and Government staff.

This description is not all-inclusive of the duties required to complete the job. Employees are expected to complete all assigned duties daily as directed by management.

Compensation is based on skills, experience, and certification.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Understands and follows all project SOPs and Quality Assurance Standards
  • Supervise Veterinary technician staff
  • Attend meetings and PPM (Pre-Protocol meetings) as needed
  • Manage Data spreadsheets for records/animal tracking / treatments
  • Performs daily health checks and administers clinical treatments as directed
  • Identify and communicate signs of abnormal or poor health
  • Collect samples for diagnostic testing
  • Manage, participate, and delegate out work to veterinary technicians
  • Assists with animal receipt and health surveillance as assigned
  • Provides protocol support as needed
  • Collect weights on both large and small animals
  • Collect physiological data (pulse, respiration, heart rate, body temperature, etc)
  • Supports surgery (suite and pack preparation, anesthesia, recovery, clean up)
  • Anesthesia duties (Induction, monitor, recovery)
  • Assists with blood collections as assigned
  • Assists with environmental/food enrichment for all animals
  • Assist with animal husbandry as needed
  • Maintains inventory of supplies, drugs, equipment
  • Instruct hands on trainings and labs
  • Maintain accurate documentation and medical records
  • Perform monthly duties (sanitization, equipment check, expired items etc.) for assigned procedure rooms
  • Be willing to guide, mentor, and support staff
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds; bend, stoop, climb and stand for a prolonged period
  • Knowledge of PCs, Microsoft Office software and databases
  • Perform any other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Must have an Associates of Arts Degree in Veterinary Technology or equivalent experience.
  • Must have 5 years of veterinary technical experience.
  • Strong knowledge of animal anatomy and medical terminology.
  • Must possess computer skills such as Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Employees should hold a current AALAS certification at the LATG level or be able to take the exam within 6 months of hire date.
  • Ability to work 7:00 am and 4:00 pm (Monday through Friday). May be required to work on the weekends and holidays as scheduled. The weekend/holiday hours are generally between 7:00 am and 1 pm but may vary.
  • Must be US Citizen and the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
