The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Vice President/Controller role to be based in the Chicago, IL market. The selected candidate will be responsible for general accounting and finance functions including financial reporting and analysis, regulatory reporting, general ledger integrity and control, reconciliations, accounts payable, and preparation of other reports, schedules, and analysis as needed.

The position includes a generous salary of up to $120K and an excellent benefits package.

Vice President/Controller responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating month-end closing process, including assistance with income, liquidity, and capital projections.
  • Management of the accounts payable process.
  • Asset/liability and liquidity reporting and analysis.
  • Assisting in the completion of the annual budget.
  • Preparing or reviewing regulatory reports including quarterly Call Reports and weekly FR2900.
  • Preparing annual financial statements and coordination of the annual financial statement audit with external auditors.
  • Financial report preparation and analysis, including monthly Board of Director package.
  • Preparing and analyzing other supporting schedules used for board reporting, regulatory and income tax reporting, and internal and external audits.
  • Preparing supporting schedules and input or approval of general ledger entries
  • General ledger and bank account reconciliations, including reporting of and communicating ultimate resolution of aged reconciling items.
  • Continual review and implementation of process improvement across the department.
  • Ensuring a strong internal control environment and integrity of general ledger and communicating key controls to risk management for FDICIA.
  • Preparing Business Analytics reports for financial reporting and analysis.
  • Coordinating daily cash position reporting and executing operational movements as needed.
  • Assisting in ensuring ALCO assumptions are current and supported.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
  • Three or more years of bank experience in the accounting or finance department required.
  • Three or more years of public accounting experience highly desired.
  • Certified Public Accountant or MBA strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of, and FDICIA experience, a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (GAAP).
  • Strong computer application skills with Fiserv experience a plus.
  • Plansmith experience a plus.
  • Microsoft proficiency, especially Excel and Word.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
