JOB
GENERAL SUMMARY: Provide services to crime victims in Kane County. Service to include: information about the court system in general, emotional support, referrals to other agencies, assistance in completing forms for compensation, liaison between prosecutor and victim about victims particular case, collecting restitution information, assistance in completing victim impact statement.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Initiate case upon notification of victim services file.
Liaison between prosecutor, victim and outside agencies.
Contact victim upon request of prosecutor in case.
Process restitution information.
Maintain regular contact and assistance with victim.
Accompany victims to court.
Keep statistics of services to victims and prepare monthly report.
Assist victims in preparing Victim Impact Statements.
Send case disposition information and status letters.
Co-facilitate the Homicide Support Group Meeting every other month.
Attend any conferences with prosecutor if requested by attorney or victim. (For purpose of advocacy on behalf of victim).
Provide victims and Attorney General Compensation Application forms and assist if requested in the preparation of their applications.
Provide and explain Automated Victim Notification (AVN) contact form.
Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Preferred:
Bachelors Degree or Associates Degree in Criminal Justice or Social Work.
Experience with survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.
Basic Training in Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.
Computer Skills (Adobe, Word, DocuSign, etc.)
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong communicates skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
General office environment

EQUIPMENT USED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Computer, fax, copier, telephone, printer, DocuSign
