Qualifications:
Demonstrated understanding protocols and technologies supporting a solution
At least 5 years' experience engineering and supporting VMware systems
At least 5 years' experience or equivalent knowledge managing and deploying services
At least 5 years' experience with hybrid datacenter approaches for virtualization technologies
Familiarity and practice managing software-defined infrastructure
Familiarity with supporting and managing VMware Horizon
Understanding of high-level concepts across network, storage, and database technologies
Ability to manage scripts and code in a git-based repository
Experienced managing and creating infrastructure as code
Ability to automate complex tasks across infrastructure components
Well-practiced troubleshooting methodology
Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities may shift frequently
Ability to communicate design, installation, and support of a solution through documentation
Strong verbal communication across audiences (such as fellow engineers, end users, and management)
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
Ability to attain new technical skills and share knowledge with teammates
Responsibilities:
The Principal Infrastructure Engineer is a project-focused role with a strong capability to support other Infrastructure Engineers, Systems Administrators, and technicians with incidents and requests. The Engineer drives orchestration of common infrastructure tasks across virtualization technology stacks and will maintain strategic tasks for public and private cloud-based virtualization infrastructure, influencing architecture and standards. Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and document the individual tasks required to complete project delivery
Manage and resolve backlogged project and support tasks
Complete documentation for the support and maintenance of a new service or solution
Drive the adoption of automation across technology stacks
Participate in architecture discussions and consult peers developing a new solution design
Document, maintain, and drive technology-specific roadmaps
Advise leadership on technical tasks and direction
