For 31 years CLN has provided literacy programs to 400,000 young readers in Washtenaw County, distributing more than a million dollars in new high-quality books to low-income children, creating home libraries for families who need them most. CLNs current continuum of services and the growth in scope and programming could not have been foreseen by CLNs founders. Nevertheless, the original goals of the organization remain the same. CLNs services are useful and empowering for parents, and critical to narrowing the achievement gap between students of different neighborhoods and resources. CLN is committed to meeting ongoing literacy needs, and is dynamic and determined to work with community partners to meet emergent and urgent needs.

Children's Literacy Network's in-person BookPALS program is continuing in 2024 in Ann Arbor! The program will share the joy of reading and encouragement of reading confidence with local 2nd grade students while practicing crucial literacy skills. The highly-loved program is in need of volunteers that are available during the school day for in-person volunteering at local elementary schools. Please continue reading for more information on the volunteering experience with in-person BookPALS.
