4 Summary
Contributes to statistical and mathematical initiatives to predict future outcomes through the application of machine learning, natural language processing, and conceptual modeling. Uses existing algorithms to test hypotheses through careful and deliberate model design. Contributes to statistical analysis, modeling, and simulation that lead to actionable decisions. Applies statistical methods to characterize uncertainty using large, complex datasets. Utilizes data mining techniques to optimize decisions that support Division strategic objectives. Transforms data into actionable information. Duties And Responsibilities
- Collects and refines data from multiple data sources. Gathers and transforms data from internal and external systems in a manner suitable for analysis.
- Works with large data sets to solve non-routine problems. Performs data analysis in support of ad-hoc and standing requests.
- Participates on analytical research projects as required. Uses statistical methodology, data manipulation, and research evaluation to support various projects.
- Uses analytic models and works with team to integrate solutions.
- Contributes to data studies and data discovery initiatives using existing data sources.
- Performs data quality tests to improve statistical inferences of variables across models.
- Visualizes and reports data findings using a variety of formats. Communicates findings through internal reports and executive summaries.
- Compiles, reviews, and assesses information from academic journals, market sources, and other reports to maintain state-of-the-art knowledge in data analysis techniques.
Position Requirements
Qualifications: Must demonstrate knowledge of competence in the application of theoretical and quantitative techniques in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or other quantitative discipline typically achieved by completion of a bachelor's degree plus four years of experience (FR25) or bachelor's degree plus five years of experience (FR26) in the field of banking, finance, supervision, or statistics (or equivalent work experience). Must have experience with analytical and statistical software packages such as R, MATLAB, or SAS. Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, or SQL preferred. Experience with large datasets. Passionate about data maintenance and data quality control. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail and data accuracy. Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), relationship management, and customer service skills with a focus on working effectively in a team environment. Ability to work cross-functionally to solve problems and improve quality and service. Ability to manage multiple projects and work processes in a timely fashion. Ability to perform involved and independent research and analysis. Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information. Remarks
The Policy Analytics section's mission is to conduct data collection, analysis, quantification, and collaborate on foundational economic research to advance the divisions policy agenda and to promote prudent and efficient supervision. Additionally, they are also focused on carefully applying machine learning models to improve the way they work in the Policy function. The Policy Analytics Data Scientist - creates models using machine learning and natural language processing,
- develops automated data science pipelines to continuously make useful predictions,
- creates analysis and modeling that leads to actionable decisions,
- engages in exploratory data analysis of complex datasets to present useful information to key stakeholders,
- develops applications that use machine learning models to assist others in their tasks
The Ideal Candidate Will Meet Several Of The Following
- Demonstrated experience in data management and applying machine learning methods to solve novel problems
- Experience developing and maintaining data science pipelines from concept to production
- Experience conducting exploratory data analysis and creating useful data reports
- Expertise with Python and R
- Knowledge of Linux and Git
- Experience with data management tools and interactive data visualization tools (R Shiny, Tableau, Dash)
- Experience developing projects using modern natural language processing techniques
- An understanding of the key considerations for choosing a machine learning model as well as the risks involved in its application
