What youll be doing:

• Provide architecture, implementation and support of network services for clients.
• Review client environments and make recommendations to replace and/or improve their current network solutions and configuration and enhance their overall security and performance.
• Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
• Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
• Stay current on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain informed of developments in the networking industry.
• Collaborate with staff members within the Cloud and Managed Services division.
• Work on other technologies as time allows (i.e. VMWare, Network Attached Storage, Windows server management, workstation security).
• Work on a variety of client projects as a full-time employee of Zirous - length of projects and types of client industries will vary.
• Resolve technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation.
• Coordinate with the Zirous technical team and client teams on strategy and implementation details
• Work with a project team to gather business and technical requirements.
• Work closely with Project Managers to ensure successful project implementation.
• Provide expert and specialized hands-on technical support, consultation and coaching to clients.
• Responsible for development and management of technical strategies and initiatives that take advantage of existing technologies, as well as bring forth new technologies that address business needs in an efficient manner.
• Complete evaluation, selection and management of technology partners to supplement Zirous subject matter knowledge.
• Travel to client offices throughout Iowa and Nebraska as required based on project scope.
• Other duties as assigned.

Location: This position will work in a hybrid model with both work from home (remote) days each Monday & Friday, as well as on-site days at the West Des Moines, IA office each Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Zirous offers a flexible schedule so that you can work to meet clients needs and your personal needs.

**Applicants local to the Des Moines, IA metro will be given preference, due to the hybrid requirement for this position.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems, Cyber Security, or in a related field or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to work a hybrid model within the Des Moines, IA metro.
• Minimum of 4 years of Network Engineering experience.
• Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation.
• Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
• Previous experience with:
• Network technology vendors: Cisco, Cisco Meraki, Watchguard and Ubiquiti.
• Back-office technologies: M365/O365, OneDrive, Exchange, SharePoint, Windows Server 2012-2019, Active Directory, Azure Active Directory
• Security technologies: Endpoint protection, Zero Trust network access, email security, intrusion prevention systems and intrusion detection systems.
• Backup technologies for on-premises infrastructure
• VMWare implementation, design and support.
• Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS).
• Previous hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools.
• Deep understanding of network components and services (TCP/IP, DNS, switching, firewall, routing, Subnetting, VLANs).
• Understanding of remote access technologies (VPN, terminal services, RDP, FTP/sFTP).
• Understanding of Remote Monitoring and Management technology and best practices.
• Solid troubleshooting skills and be able to debug and analyze issues to resolution.
• The ability to interact with clients in order to maintain good standing,including, but not limited to; assisting in gathering requirements, answering questions, and participating in implementations.
• Ability to demonstrate organization and documentation skills.
• High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
• Professional appearance and attire.
• Resourceful, well organized, highly dependable, efficient and detail oriented.
• Excellent communication skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and the ability to work effectively with staff.
• Position will work closely with other team members and VP of Cloud & Managed Services to accomplish company, client and personal goals.
