Senior Data Engineer. Ocelot Consulting LLC. Saint Louis, Missouri. Responsible for developing innovative software using distributed data processing frameworks and techniques and defining and building data pipelines that enable clients to make faster, better, data-informed business decisions. Analyze business requirements and objectives of software. Develop, construct, test, and maintain architectures and ensure alignment with business requirements. Develop, customize, and manage integration tools, databases, warehouses, and analytical systems. Design optimal ETL infrastructures from a variety of data sources. Identify ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality of systems and ensure appropriate testing of the reliability and performance of each party of the system. Implement, debug, identify performance bottlenecks, and fine-tune batch and real-time big data integration frameworks using various technologies. Prepare data for predictive and prescriptive modeling. Monitor the overall performance and stability of the system as well as the automated parts of the pipeline, and make modifications to system as data, models, and business requirements dictate. Lead and mentor team members and other software engineers, analysts, and data scientists. Requires: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems or Technology, Systems Engineering, or closely-related degree. Five years of experience in any data engineer position. Five years of hands-on experience implementing, debugging, identifying performance bottlenecks and fine-tuning batch and real-time Big Data integration frameworks in private or public cloud using various technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, AWS EMR). Five years of experience designing optimal ETL infrastructures from a variety of data sources. Five years of experience in one or more general purpose programming languages (e.g., Java, Scala, Python). Demonstrated ability to apply principles, best practices, and trade-offs of schema design to various types of database systems: relational (Oracle, Postgres, MySQL, etc.), NoSQL (HBase, DynamoDB, MongoDB, etc.) and in-memory (ElastiCache) with understanding and proficiency in data manipulation techniques. Work from home available from any location within U.S. Travel may be required to client sites in St. Louis, Missouri area up to 15% of the time.
