Responsibilities:

  • Work independently and within a multifunctional team.
  • Understand the translation of chemical and polymer technologies to deployment in products.
  • Keep abreast of potential new technologies to enable the design of new materials and capabilities.
  • Leverage existing technologies to advance our core businesses while supporting the development of new products and platforms.
  • Advance our chemistry development, polymer synthesis, coating formulation for drug delivery systems, and application capabilities.
  • Collaborate in the creation, evaluation, and assessment of competitive products, processes, technology, and trends.
  • Ensure compliance with BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through appropriate communication, training and education of sound quality assurance principles.
  • Design, develop, and improve materials related to BD products
  • Implement experimental designs, write protocols and reports, perform data analysis, present out on findings
  • Provide direction to lower-level engineers (when appropriate) and technicians
  • Assist in the transfer of new technologies from R&D to manufacturing
  • Provide technical expertise to new development projects
  • Define material properties and requirements in order to meet product requirements
  • Actively seek training to improve skills and teach/promote/reward new learning within the organization
  • Utilization of the scientific method to identify problems or potential risks and deliver quick, effective solutions to enable projects to meet their timing and deliverables
  • Hold and encourage frequent formal and informal communication within the team.

Requirements:

  • PhD: 0-3 years of post-graduate industrial experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Degree: Chemistry, polymer science, chemical engineering, materials science, biomedical or other related degrees
  • Skills in polymer synthesis applied to coatings for drug delivery and adhesives.
  • Successful track record of on time delivery to project deliverables
  • Medical device industry experience preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of material structure-property relationship
  • Application of statistical and analytical methods such as Design of Experiments and ANOVA analysis
  • An understanding of design control processes
  • Experience with scale-up and transfer of material technologies to manufacturing
  • Test protocol generation, execution, and reporting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of project management for new product development
  • Ability to work within multifunctional teams and work cross-functionally.
  • Strong fit to Client's core values and the Client way
  • A basic understanding of regulatory and quality processes
