Position: Heavy Civil Construction Superintendent/Engineer
Wunna Contracting Corporation is a leading provider of top-quality construction services for highway, bridge, and airport projects. We are located in Manassas, Virginia, and have active projects in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington D.C Metro area.
Wunna Contracting Corporation is currently looking to hire a Construction Superintendent/Engineer who can travel and manage bridge repair work in the Chesapeake, Virginia area.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and supervise all construction activities.
- Direct and monitor all field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship which conforms to plans, specifications and standards.
- Plan and schedule with construction progress.
- Order materials, identify and solve problems, and perform inspection as necessary.
- Maintain positive relationship with crew, customers, suppliers, and contractors.
- Ensure job site safety is the number one priority, conduct regular on-site safety meetings, rectify job site hazards immediately, encourage safe work practices, and properly record safety violations.
- Required to provide daily reports, ensuring that reports and records are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Supervise, order and coordinate activities of labor, subcontractors, and deliveries.
- Confer with management and technical associates to coordinate activities.
- Prepare construction related documents.
- Log and Monitor RFI’s and Change Orders.
- Able to work night shift
Qualifications:
- 2 or 4-year Engineering Degree preferred. Desirable study concentration in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
- (3) years of Highway and Bridge construction experience required, preferably VDOT experience.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Detail-oriented and multi-tasking skills
- Strong knowledge of Construction Methods and Safety Laws.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to manage diverse personalities.
- Professionally and technically competent.
- Experience in Steel components installation, concrete repair, and over the water activities.
