The Compute Systems Engineer will lead in the planning, design, development, implementation, and execution Compute systems engineering for the Charter Datacenter. Drives identification and adoption of best-in-class development. Designs, develops and implements platform enhancements and makes recommendations for improvements.
Required Skills : Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, and / or equivalent work experience Minimum six (8) years of engineering work experience Minimum five (6) years of experience in systems engineering Work in an Agile environment utilizing agile methodology on a daily basis Must have in-depth experience on blade and rackmount architecture from various vendors (Cisco/HP/Dell). Person should have exposure on defining enterprise computing architecture to support requirements. Must know SAN protocols(FC/FCoE/iSCSI) in details for compute architecture for leveraging SAN environments. Must have exposure on deploying and managing Computing architecture in scale with automated tools/processes. Person should be able to identify gaps in the platform and provide architecture guidance on platform lifecycle management process across multiple datacenters. Person must have In-depth knowledge on x86 architecture. Interact with various stakeholders to understand their business needs, communicate project status and develop relationships to ensure satisfaction Expertly use tools and analytics to provide insight and make recommendations Provide ad-hoc analysis to address specific business questions from stakeholder groups Participate in visualization design and deployment review sessions to ensure all technical and functional requirements have been met Person must be able to identify requirements to stand up rugged form factor computing infrastructure. Person must be familiar with automated Edge node orchestration techniques to manage large scale deployment. Must know the details of how to design low latency infrastructure to support functions like SR-IOV, GPU processing, network services offloading capabilities etc. Must know how to map cost factors to the infrastructure to provide low cost services (Edge depends on cost factors too, high cost derails edge use cases)
