EMC Testing Technician Location: US-MI-Portage Email this job to a friend

Responsibilities: - Operate and maintain all internal EMC equipment including 10-meter chamber
- Direct, build, and adapt setup and test equipment based on product test needs. (May initiate recommendations for new equipment designs and solutions to observed test problems)
- Execute and document product safety testing in house
- Travel to outside testing laboratories to witness and execute Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) tests
- Work closely with engineers to set up the Compliance lab to achieve data acceptance program (DAP) certification and manage testing needs based on project demands
- Oversee projects, as necessary, to ensure products meet the ever-changing global product safety standards
- Independently troubleshoot test failures and communicate details to Compliance engineers
- Update and maintain test protocols and procedures as applicable
- Maintain calibration of all gauges in the approval's lab
- Evaluate and purchase test equipment and software for the laboratory
- Maintain a clean and orderly lab
Requirements: - High school diploma required
- Associates degree in engineering or electrical technology or iNARTE EMC technician certification preferred.
- 3+ years of experience required
- Testing, EMC, Soldering experience preferred
- Experience working in ISO 13485 Quality Management Systems preferred
- Knowledge of basic electrical circuits and basic EMC testing concept preferred
- Knowledge and experience with electrical measurement equipment preferred. (Oscilloscope, Function Generator, Multi-Meter).
- Use of safety glasses is required in designated areas
- Closed toe/heel shoes required to be worn on the production floor and R&D labs
