DevOps Engineer (R SME, R Developer)

Duration: 6 months, extendable

• Subject Matter Expert and Lead for RStudio Server, Shiny Server, and R package management, including use alongside the Spack Shared Application Tree
• Manage lifecycle of R products and services from inception to deployment and support
• Work alongside Assay Development and Bioinformatics scientists to understand and support sequencing pipeline inputs and outputs
• Maintain and expand the functionality of existing scripts & applications related to Bioinformatics pipelines and cluster jobs, as well as design and develop new processes for automation, sequencing pipeline workflows, reporting, data transfers, archiving, service lifecycle management, and maintenance and upgrades
• Troubleshoot anomalies in script or application functionality and output as they relate to sequencing pipeline workflows, builds, data transfers, and archiving

• Bachelor's degree

Please note: Only experienced candidates with a strong, hands-on role in R application development, including package management and use of the RStudio suite, will be considered, and on-the-job training will not be offered due to the complexity of the existing environment and need to mature our R offering to our customers.

• 3+ years hands-on experience in R application development as well as fluency in Python
• First-hand administration experience configuring, supporting, and using, RStudio Server Pro, including R package and version installations
• Hands-on experience with Shiny application development, including a strong understanding of user interfaces and user experience
• Working experience with package management and dependencies
• Working experience using version control, specifically Git (GitHub or GitLab)
• Working experience using the Atlassian suite of tools, specifically Confluence and JIRA
• Familiarity and ability to work within the Scrum framework

• Administration experience configuring and supporting Shiny Server Pro
• Hands-on experience or fluency in Perl, C, or Java
• Experience or knowledge of Nextflow or another workflow framework
• Experience with package managers, such as Spack
• Experience with configuration automation tools, such as Ansible or Puppet or Bright
• Experience with high-performance computing clusters and schedulers, such as UGE or LSF
• Administration experience with Linux operating systems, such as RHEL or Ubuntu
• Administration experience with storage, such as GPFS or Isilon or S3
• Experience with working on cloud platforms, such as AWS or GCP
