Pay rate XXX/hr New chromatography resins are constantly in demand to address the evolving needs of the bioprocess industry. As the successful candidate, you will develop new resins and other purification products to support biologics purification. Your day-to-day activities will include work in the laboratory as well as coordination of team members on one or more concurrent product development efforts. As a senior member of the team, you will guide R&D activities from a strong project plan and represent R&D in your interactions with partners from manufacturing, quality, finance, product management, and business unit leaders. Establishing a strong working relationship with Program Managers, you will lead direct reports and/or matrixed team members. Mentorship of junior and mid-level scientists will be encouraged, with the goal of strengthening our win-together team culture. The Purification R&D team consists of 17 chemists and downstream process scientists who create custom and on-catalog products and actively research new directions and industry trends. Our team has expertise in polymer and organic chemistry, surface modification, biochemistry, scale-up and manufacture, and biologics purification. We interact with other segments ofClient Scientific, including R&D teams from business units around the world and field applications scientists who work closely with the customers we serve. Your knowledge of surface and organic chemistry should be extensive and meaningful. You must have led development of catalog products for a scientific or technological industry. You will work comfortably within the complementary and sometimes complicated interests of internal partners, to align project teams and gain leadership support. Key competencies for this position are strong interpersonal communication; excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills; win-together attitude and team focus; ability to develop rapport and trust among colleagues. Key knowledge ares include organic chemistry; experimental design; project leadership including stage-gate development processes. Education and Experience. PhD and 8 years experience or Masters Degree and 10+ years experience in product development. Educational requirement can be substituted with well-established record of successful product development. Travel requirements: 10% or less. Physical requirements: Working at a chemistry bench and/or desk for significant hours at a time. Normally this will include reaching into and working in fume hood, reaching high and low for supplies and reagents, and light lifting to manage reagents and buffers; however, reasonable accommodations will be made as needed.
