Position - Sales- Customer Service Representative
Duration - Temp to hire
Location - Houston, TX, 77041
Responsibilities
  • Builds sustainable relationships and trust with customers, and provides information about accounts, products, and services.
  • Generates product quotes and purchase orders; verifies customer orders and order changes; ensures product delivery within applicable service level agreements.
  • Resolves customer order issues; communicates with vendors to resolve problems with timeliness and product quality; ensures customer returns are handled in accordance with company policy.
  • Researches and identifies vendors as necessary to obtain quotes for nonstock items.
  • Coordinates activities with various internal Encon functional areas to best service client inquiries and requests.
  • Assists with the management of maintaining adequate inventory levels to meet customer requirements.
  • Assists with controlling unnecessary freight expenses and costs.
  • Researches and resolves account receivable disputes and/or other customer payment discrepancies.
  • Produces customer activity reports and/or desired metrics as requested.
  • Assists with preparing customer presentations; may also participate in delivering customer presentations.
  • Introduces new products to assigned customers and identifies upselling opportunities; may also assist with identifying and/or soliciting new business opportunities within an assigned area, market, or region.
  • Maintains current and accurate customer records; updates account information as necessary.
  • Follows all Encon Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Adheres to LEAN & digital operating practices; continuously looks for process improvement opportunities, and ensures the worksite is professional, clean, and neat at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Experience in customer service is required
  • Must have solid data entry skills
  • Must have excellent typing skills (please list WPM on resume or submittal comments)
  • Must communicate well over email and phone
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus (not required)
  • Will help customers with orders, quotes, tracking, and any related issues
  • Will work on a team with 2 other CSRs
  • Encon will provide training on their ERP system.
  • This is an onsite, in-person position. Remote work is not an option.
  • Dress code: business casual
  • Education: Required: High school diploma or equivalent with 4+ years of customer service or purchasing-related work experience.
  • Preferred: Associate's degree in a related field (e.g., Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, etc.) coupled with 2+ years of customer service, purchasing, or warehouse-related work experience.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy; proficiency with MS Office products; aptitude to learn various Enconspecific systems and applications (e.g. ERP, Inventory Management, etc.).
  • Mathematical aptitude for basic calculations.
  • The distribution industry is a plus.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
  • This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.
  • Long periods of time working on a computer and performing repetitive keyboarding activities
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, associates are regularly required to talk and hear; frequently required to sit; occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. (if anything, will move boxes of files)
  • Comments for Suppliers: This opening is with Encon Safety Products. Encon manufactures safety and protective equipment that Vallen distributes. While Encon is a Vallen company, they still go by Encon Safety Products. The building and signage will say Encon, they refer to themselves as Encon, have Encon email addresses, etc. Please make it clear to candidates that this is a job with Encon.
  • Encon will provide training on their ERP system.
