Provide support to DALA magistrates hearing cases on Massachusetts public employee retirement, the wage and hour act, and professional licensing. The clerk will also attend hearings.

• Work with the magistrates to prepare for hearings and draft decisions.
• Attend hearings and take notes. Use computer databases (e.g., Westlaw) to search and retrieve records and research as necessary.
• Assist in drafting detailed findings and rulings. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job does not exercise supervisory responsibilities.

• Applicants must possess strong writing, communication, and organizational skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word; strong attention to detail; and the ability to work independently.

• Law degree (J.D.) required.
• LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret legal documents, statutes, regulations, and cases.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before employees of the organization.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: No law license required, but it is a plus.
