Verve is seeking an exceptional Bay Area Regional Manager responsible for the successful operations of all Verve Bay Area California retail stores. This leader partners with the Head of Retail to deliver outstanding streetlevel customer service, drive increased sales while mindful of the bottom line, and define and execute Verves vision for the future of specialty coffee. Our Bay Area Regional Manager lives and breathes service, is skilled in employee relations, is hands on and present in all locations, and has a passion for world class coffee. The ideal candidate thrives strategizing and actualizing successful business growth plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, retain, develop and hold accountable an outstanding team of highly engaged retail managers who prioritize exceptional customer service and are simultaneously coffee aficionados, business operation pros, and true staff leaders
  • Ensure employee engagement; monitor employee turnover and course correct where warranted
  • Regularly visit stores, communicating expectations, building camaraderie, holding staff meetings; champion superior standards in all areas of operational activity
  • Hold weekly meeting with all direct reports and ensure all stores/staff are meeting agreed upon objectives
  • Collaborate and execute retail strategic plans; manage P&L and budgets. Manage all controls to ensure business integrity and to further profitability
  • Continually improve operational systems, processes and policies.
  • Assess key business risks and develop contingency plans
  • Control and manage the level of in-store inventory, new products, visual merchandising and collateral materials
  • Ensure employee occupational health and safety
  • Manage vendor relationships; monitor and support managers superior maintenance of facilities, equipment, systems, and technology; ensure cafe leadership training and ability to perform basic preventive and repair work on store equipment
  • Collaborate with Head of Retail on Store Development projects and new store openings
  • Communicate with Marketing, Wholesale, Coffee, HQ, Roasting departments on initiatives
  • Partner with Head of Training & Development and Human Resources to facilitate orientation, key trainings, MIT and LIT programs
  • Analyze business trends; develop and implement store-specific, regional, and retail-wide plans to maximize performance of all stores

Qualifications:

  • Passion for coffee, hospitality, and developing teams

  • Proven understanding of the specialty coffee industry
  • Responsive, proactive, resourceful, solution-oriented, self-directed, highly reliable
  • Superior analytical skills
  • Solid business and financial acumen
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency; track record of capably managing multiple projects and priorities
  • Thrives in entrepreneurial, fast-paced, often stressful environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding organizational, planning and time management talents
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time

Experience:

  • At least 5 years in Cafe/Restaurant Operations Leadership

Requirements:

  • Pass an extensive background check

Pay & Benefits:

  • $79,000-$83,000 annual salary
  • Full-time employees are eligible for Paid Time Off and insurance coverage per plan terms as well as participation in Verve Coffees 401k plan, per plan terms; all employees qualify for paid sick days
