This is a seasonal full-time position, 40 hours per week. Position is open until filled. $15.21 starting pay.
Performs skilled and semi-skilled tasks in many phases of seasonal maintenance and construction of recreation areas, buildings, and facilities. May work on programs, events and projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position. The listed examples may not include all duties found in this class):
1. Assist in the maintenance of municipal parks.
2. Perform minor semi-skilled interior building maintenance such as painting and other unskilled trades work.
3. Perform custodial work such as required and assigned.
4. Plant and maintain lawns, trees, shrubs and flowers.
5. Carry out watering and weed control of Citys parks and open spaces.
6. Collect and dispose of solid waste from buildings and grounds; pick up litter from premises.
7. Familiar with and executes safe work procedures associated with assigned work.
8. Work on Recreation Programs and Special Events planning and oversight.
9. Support summer camp and other specialty programming.
10. Work on program marketing.
11. Develop cost analysis spreadsheets and monitor weekly costs and program revenues.
12. Provides support for Recreation Administration work and assists Director in project management.
13. Performs other related duties, as required.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS: Some knowledge of, and the ability to use simple hand tools; knowledge of construction, electrical procedures and techniques; ability to perform simple and routine manual labor; even adverse weather conditions; ability to perform a variety of manual tasks; ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to use office equipment, computers and communications equipment.
EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum High School diploma and 3 years of College education with an emphasis in Recreation Management. Some experience in maintenance of grounds; OR any combination of education and experience, which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
This position is specifically designed for Internships related to the UNH RMP program or equivalent University level Internship program. Duties and skills necessary may vary based on the timing of programs, events and projects at the discretion of the Recreation Director.
