Spiegelworld is looking for a full-time restaurant Sommelier to join the team for our newest venture at Superfrico within Caesars Atlantic City Hotel & Casino. This energetic restaurant and nightlife concept will operate five nights a week. Do you want to be part of something new with Spiegelworld?

Scope

The Sommelier has in-depth knowledge of wines, as well as the ability to quickly recall and share complex information about different types of wines and styles. The Sommelier recommends wine pairings and shares tasting notes. Their main responsibility is to promote wine sales, educate guests and staff. Superfrico wine sommelier is an excellent story teller and demonstrates passion for wine, with strong focus on hospitality and service. The Sommelier position reports directly to General Manager of SuperFrico. This position earns $22/hr PLUS 3% tips on any wine sales, PLUS $5 on any ticket sold for the show (lots of earning potential!).

Primary Job Duties

  • Creating a wine list and writing wine descriptions
  • Suggest food and wine pairings to servers, bartenders, and guests
  • Recommending wines based on customer preferences
  • Conducting wine tastings for staff and customers
  • Hosting winery tours
  • Teaching wine courses
  • Maintaining daily pars for wine by the glass and bottle in Superfrico restaurant and bars
  • Putting away pallets of wine
  • Ordering wine and maintaining monthly wine Inventory
  • Prepare wine tasting menu
  • Assist in Training servers and bartenders and educating them on wines on our menu
  • Liaise between guests, servers, Chefs, managers as needed (Sevenrooms profile notes, celebrations)
  • Personally handle all VIP wine needs
  • Promotes cooperative effort, a team spirit, and good morale among employees.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of Sommelier experience
  • Food & Beverage experience, preferably fine dining
  • Organized, works well under pressure, Charismatic personality, personably, out-spoken, humor.
  • Adaptive organizational skills and the ability to change plans to meet new circumstances.
  • A true passion for hosting - helping to create an environment where people not only have fun but feel relaxed, welcome, and connected.
  • A genuine nature and able to comfortably engage in natural dialogue with guests and diffuse difficult situations.
  • Integrity and the ability to make decisions on your feet.
  • The ability to speak clearly and articulately while providing information and answering questions from guests, while focusing on etiquette and conveying a sense of calm.
  • Willingness to work holidays
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have valid work authorization for the US (valid TIPPS & Health card)
  • At least 21 years of age.

  • Requires the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.
  • Ability to comply with Policies and Procedures, Job Description, daily memorandums, chemical labels (MSDS) and other instructions.
