What You Will Do:

The Cabling Lead Technician will primarily be responsible as the on-site coordinator and crew supervisor for Structured Cabling projects. The Lead Technicians task will be to ensure job completion according to company and customer quality and safety requirements while maintaining the efficiency of the staff assigned to the project.

Job Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Manage project crews to assure Building Industry Consulting Services International (BICSI) and manufacturers performance standards are meet and safety and quality guidelines are followed.
  • Complete BICSI and manufacturers training as necessary, hold weekly safety meetings, initiate performance related communication and escalate to Program Manager when appropriate.
  • Coordinate with Cabling Program Manager and Project Coordinators to ensure job is completed on time and within budget.
  • Complete Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF)/Intermediate Distribution Frame (IDF)infrastructure site surveys as required.
  • Manage project inventory.
  • Provide construction updates to the Program Manager.
  • Oversee and implement Quality Assurance procedures for independent contractors and insourced personnel to ensure the accuracy and quality of a project.
  • Adhere to all company and client policies and procedures, as well as local codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Meet deadlines, keep schedules, and perform to target levels in a high production environment.
  • Complete all project paperwork accurately and on time (specifically timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers, and other as required).
  • Perform quality checks; coordinate moves, adds, and changes as needed.
  • Perform cabling and infrastructure Site-Survey.
  • Validate pathways and be able to generate a Bill of Materials (BOM) list for the install.
  • Serve as main on-site customer contact for questions and/or concerns.
  • Attend facility walk throughs for Statement of Work (SOW) and fill out necessary paperwork.
  • Perform work consistently demonstrating a detailed level of technical knowledge; troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise.

Requirements

Education and Certifications/Licenses:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must pass drug screen.
  • Must pass background investigation and DMV check.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of low voltage experience in both Internet Service Provider (ISP) and Outsource Service Provider (OSP) telecommunications required, preferably in a Multiple Dwelling Unit (MDU) environment such as senior living or hospitality.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or management experience required.
  • Experience in Fiber Optics installation and maintenance to include Mechanical Terminating, Fusion Splicing, and Testing using an Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR).

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to lift, push and/or carry up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds without assistance
  • Ability to see and distinguish colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals
  • Ability to work at heights, off a ladder and in confined spaces
  • Ability to frequently bend, climb, squat, reach and kneel
  • Ability to ascend or descend ladders, scaffolding, stairs, ramps and the like using feet/legs and/or hands/arms
  • Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand(s)
  • Lift hands frequently to reach above, below or at shoulder level
  • Pushing/pulling may involve use of hands/arms, feet/legs, and/or feet only done with one side of the body or both sides up to 70lbs
  • Sitting for long periods of time may be required

Knowledge (e.g., skills; abilities; familiarity w/tools, languages, software programs):

  • Skilled in reading blueprints and designing cable pathways while marking up plans as required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & Visio).

Other (e.g., travel, evening/weekend hours, on-call):

  • This is a remote position and will require the employee to work from home.
  • Sitting for long periods of time may be required.
  • Pushing/pulling may involve use of hands/arms, feet/legs, and/or feet only done with one side of the body or both sides up to 70lbs.
  • Lift hands frequently to reach above, below or at shoulder level.
  • Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand(s).
