Greenbacker has hired a senior executive with over 20 years and $25 billion of commercial real estate principal investment experience to manage this new vehicle and is actively growing the real estate investment team.

Job Purpose/Background
As Greenbacker continues to raise capital and grow our investment portfolio, an opportunity has arisen to join the team as a Senior Asset Manager focused on our utility-scale solar and storage operations. This role will report to the VP of Operations and will work closely with the entire Greenbacker Operations team, while also working independently as the designated point of contact for solar assets while fulfilling reporting and compliance obligations to customers, financial partners, utilities, and regulatory organizations. The Operations team is responsible for operating all our existing solar, wind and biomass assets as well as conducting technical diligence on new acquisitions. This Senior Asset Manager position will be focused on utility-scale solar and storage asset management and regulatory compliance responsibilities.
The ideal location for the candidate will be in Montpelier, VT or Portland, ME (but remotely-based candidates will also be considered) and the position will require occasional project related travel as well as travel to conferences and industry events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee a portfolio of 400-500+ MW utility-scale solar PV (and solar+storage) assets owned and operated by Greenbacker.
- Manage all asset management compliance-related tasks to ensure prompt completion and full compliance with agreements, regulations and other requirements in a comprehensive fashion.
- Deliver, or ensure the delivery of, all energy production and technical operations activity reports required for internal/external parties accurately and on time.
- Understand, assess, and formulate solutions to address technical and financial underperformance of your portfolio in collaboration with the Operations and Accounting teams.
- Act as Management point of contact for off-takers, lessors, regulatory organizations and financial parties.
- Help to streamline, automate, and improve processes related to reporting and compliance requirements.
- Meaningfully contribute and/or manage projects and initiatives for the Asset Management team to enhance productivity and organization of the department.
- Manage the utility, NERC, FERC, ISO and REC registering and reporting aspects of each asset.
- Direct experience with or have managed through a subcontractor the setup and continued compliance of the utility, NERC, FERC, ISO and REC requirements relating to a solar utility site.
Education and Experience
- 5+ years of experience in a solar asset management-related role.
- Possess expert-level knowledge of plant operations, regulatory compliance, contractual management, and financial and technical reporting on utility-scale solar PV assets.
- Prior BESS management experience a plus.
- Familiarity, education or experience with renewable energy project construction is preferred.
- Highly skilled and experienced in problem solving and issue resolutions, not necessarily exclusive to the renewable energy sector.
- Highly proficient in learning and implementing new software tools and maximizing their full potential.
- A strong focus on organization and timeliness.
- A true self-starter. We are a relatively small team and need someone to bring the full breadth of their skills, expertise, leadership and intellect to work every day to help the business grow and not just be content to complete tasks and wait for direction.
- Detail oriented. Someone who will get the small things right and leave no stone unturned in the quest for precision and accuracy.
