Library Systems & Services is seeking a skilled Cataloger to join our team. As Cataloger, you will be responsible for ensuring our library collections are accurately and comprehensively cataloged, making them easily retrievable for library patrons. Our ideal candidate has a strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and is able to work independently as well as collaboratively with other team members. This position is hybrid and subject to change based on the needs of the library.
Responsibilities - Create, edit and maintain accurate bibliographical records for library materials in accordance with technical standards and library policies.
- Develop and maintain current systems of organization for library collections, ensuring they are easily accessible to library patrons.
- Work collaboratively with other library staff to evaluate, select and process library materials.
- Research, verify and maintain access points for authorized subject headings, cross-references, descriptions, and bibliographic data.
- Collaborate with vendors to place and track orders and shipments of library materials.
- Participate in outreach events and activities to promote library services and resources.
- Keep up to date on new developments and best practices in cataloging and metadata management.
Requirements - Master's degree in Library Science, Information Science or related field.
- At least one year of experience in original and copy cataloging IAW current Library of Congress standards.
- Advanced knowledge of MARC, RDA, AACR2, and other cataloging and classification standards.
- Familiarity with automated library systems, such as OCLC or Symphony.
- Experience with integrated library systems, such as Polaris or Sierra.
- Experience with Sirsi/Dynix Symphony is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other team members
