DSC Staff provide recovery-oriented peer support, assisting the individual in identifying Personal Medicine, writing Power Statements, using MyWellness tools, completing CommonGround Health Reports, and using various decision aids.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and 2 years equivalent full-time work or volunteer experience in the last 3 years.
- Peer Specialist Certification or willingness to be certified through county trainings
- Have a thorough knowledge of recovery and wellness philosophy and practice.
- Have a working knowledge of issues faced by those who experience serious mental illness.
- Lived experience which increases the awareness of the needs of adults with serious mental illness.
- Ability to communicate effective orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish effective working relationship with staff, community partners and clients.
- Ability to recognize and be sensitive to cultural and ethnic differences.
