Leadership opportunity caring for individuals with developmental and mental heath disabilities as a Direct of Residential Services!

Location: Alton/Swansea Admin Office

Schedule: Monday-Friday

Shift: Days + on call; rotating weekends

Position Summary:

Reporting to the VP (Vice President) of Residential Options, the Director of Residential Services is responsible for housing programs which provide people who have different abilities opportunities to live in a home-based environmentachieving the highest level of independence possible.

The Director ensures that our Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) sites and/or our Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF/DD) and their 4-12 staff who care for up to 16 residents with developmental disabilities and/or mental illness operate in accordance with state and federal regulations and best practices; that residents thrive in a person-centered home environment; that accurate and timely reporting and analysis on resident outcome statistics and trends are tracked; that administrative and support needs are met; and that employees receive effective leadership while promoting the desired Company culture and values.

1. Resident Relations: Promote a culture of person-centered services that advances the Companys mission to provide quality care and services in a community-based setting to individuals with disabilities. Assist individual development by encouraging, empowering, and engaging residents in essential life and recreational activities to teach independent living, self-confidence, communication, and practical skills. Ensure a high rate of resident satisfaction. Recruit, screen, and interview prospective residents. Oversee the health and safety needs of all residents are met by ensuring that Human Rights Behavior Management Committee functions are completed per State regulations and Residential Options policies, investigating allegations and Chair Human Rights Committee meetings, and assisting group site managers with crisis intervention and treatment. Attend all DD Resident IHP or ISP/IATP staffing meetings and review the IHPs or ISP/IATP

2. Operational Management: Plan, organize, and supervise the delivery of care to residential residents. Ensure facilities adhere to the latest healthcare regulations, maintain high occupancy levels, and provide high-quality service while meeting the needs of residents and complying with funding agency agreements. Conduct regular management meetings. Complete reports and communicate key information to the VP of Residential Options in a timely, accurate, and comprehensive manner.

Conduct monthly audits for each site and ensure CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) and state regulatory guidelines are met. Assist administration in preparing for on-site visitation or surveys of the sites. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory statutes of assigned sites (DHS Rule 132, DHS Rule 115, JCAR IDPH (Illinois Department of Public Health) LTC (Long Term Care) Facilities Part 300). Assist Clinical Director in overseeing the MRO program as assigned.

3. Budget: Assist in the development of budgets and financial reports as requested by the Vice President. Review Residential Options budgets, monitoring and controlling labor, supply, and home repair expenses for assigned homes and advising managers on spending, meeting financial goals within established budgetary guidelines. Propose capital expenditure and submit capital expenditure requests to the Vice President for review/consideration.

4. Administrative Support: Manage group site in absence of manager. Conduct training class per VP, manager, or training department request. Assist in public relations for Residential Options. Assist with special projects or reports as needed.

5. Effective Team Leadership: Lead team and place people in positions to succeed. Hire, train, and empower top-notch leaders to effectively oversee their areas of responsibility. Encourage effective outcomes and accountability. Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct, and evaluate assigned sites activities and performance. Communicate job expectations. Plan, monitor, and appraise job results; evaluate team for continual improvement, efficiency, and effectiveness. Initiate, coordinate, and enforce systems, policies, and procedures. Mentor and develop the team through training, problem resolution, and performance evaluation. Requirements

  • Education: Bachelors Degrees in Human Service Field (QIDP education requirements)
  • Experience: 3+ years working with developmental disabilities (DD) or Mental Health (MH) disabilities and 3+ years of supervisory experience. Or Masters degree in Human Services field with 1 year of experience with people with people with DD or MH and 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Certifications: CPR, 1st Aid, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and DSP training, including medication administration, provided by the company must be successfully completed within the first 4 months to be certified. Passing CPR, 1st Aid, CPI and medication administration training is also required annually. Illinois Food Service and Sanitation certificate needed within the first 6 months and renewed as required. Have IL Nursing Site Administrator license or obtain it within 1 year of starting if assigned ICF sites.
  • Pre-Employment Tests: Must pass state required TABE literacy assessment prior to employment
  • Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Background Checks: Must pass criminal background check. Must pass various State and Federal registry checks. Must pass DCFS Abuse and Neglect Tracking System check Must pass driving history check and Company policy criteria, maintain valid drivers license and be 21 or older to drive Company van (or 25 or older to drive 15-person-capacity van at some sites).
  • Driving: Use of personal insured vehicle for Company related travel is required.
