Novel Capital ((link removed)) is a fintech startup providing innovative capital products and data insights to transform how tech companies fund their growth. Our platform provides financing to early-stage companies that in many cases dont fit the traditional banking or venture-capital equity models.

We are hiring an Investment Analyst to be the face of Novel with our prospective customers. Responsible for identifying and nurturing prospects through our sales cycle, the ideal candidate is a great communicator with finance background who can consistently execute our sales process from beginning to closing the sale. This role is more than just a sales role as you are helping tech Entrepreneurs figure out how to fund the growth trajectory of their companies.

Were looking for someone who:

  • Is Hungry. You know that a good salesperson is only as good as the numbers they put up. You are driven to close deals that are a right fit for both the customers business and to Novel.
  • Is Process-Oriented. Funding is not an easy sell, with multiple steps, and lots of sensitive information to gather you know how to stick to a process but arent shy about suggesting where it can improve. Also, you arent afraid to update Salesforce daily as we live and die by our data here.
  • Has Tech Business Acumen. Youll primarily be selling to tech Founders, CEOs, and CFOs every day. You need to be able to quickly understand their business and engage in thoughtful, empathetic discussion about their options and the underwriting process. Transparency is key at Novel, so we want someone who can be honest about a Founders financing terms and options.
  • Experienced with Finance. What we do is nuanced and can have a steep learning curve, so were looking for someone who has finance and credit background and understands early-stage startups and the challenges they experience while seeking funding.

Passion for entrepreneurship, venture, and early-stage tech founders is essential. A willingness to learn about startup finance concepts is critical.

Ideal candidates will be excited by a fast-paced startup environment and find intrinsic reward in an unstructured environment where individuals own their actions and have an outsized impact. This role reports to the Director of Growth, with visibility to all of leadership, and will directly impact the companys revenue.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Execute our sales playbook with consistency and discipline.
  • Lead qualification and term sheet proposal meetings with prospective customers.
  • Efficiently drive all sales opportunities in your pipeline to close.
  • Maintain data hygiene in Salesforce at all times.
  • Own your pipeline by leading deal flow meetings with management.
  • Effectively represent Novels brand in all your interactions.
  • Capture market insights that help refine the positioning of our brand and products.

Requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (BS/BA) with an emphasis on finance and/or accounting required.
  • At least 2 years in a finance/credit role, preferably in alternative finance or fintech.
  • Proven success interacting with C-suite and a decision-making group.
  • Technically proficient in use of CRM and lead engagement systems.
  • Ability to draw insights from your interactions with prospects and customers.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to drive urgency and clarity in all your interactions.
  • Extensive experience in virtual meetings and demonstrations.
  • Evidence of consistently achieving quota and goals.
  • Passionate about startups and our mission to serve early-stage technology entrepreneurs.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Comfortable making decisions amidst ambiguity, strong bias for action.
  • The location for this position is in our offices in Kansas City.
